The Homecoming pep rally has an admission of $1. If a child is under school age, he/she will be admitted free of charge. The Homecoming theme is Halloween, so some of what you see during the performance may be scary looking to some young children. (ex. spooky music, loud noised, creepy masks) Young children may want to be accompanied by an adult.

PLAS will host a Spirit Day on Friday morning at Hardee's. PLAS will receive 20% of all pre-tax purchases made at Hardee's between 4am and 11pm!! Please cut out and submit one of the spirit day cards to the cashier when ordering. The cards were sent home yesterday!

Please make flashcards at home with these blends. You may have noticed the mini flashcards that came home with your child on Friday. When your child can tell me the letter AND its sound, they will EARN that card and get to bring it home. Our unit next week is PETS! We will have a fun week talking about all the different pets and doing some cute crafts. Please send a picture of your child with his or her pet. September 2 - 5

I hope you all had a great long weekend!

We will learn about the letter E, e as in elephant and egg. We will learn how to write it and the sound that it makes. This can be difficult for some, especially the little e, so be prepared to practice at home. Please refer to the manuscript guide I gave you at Open House! This is the best way to know exactly how I am teaching it to them at school. I can not tell you enough how much you practicing with them at home helps. I am so proud of the ones who are practicing. I can see a HUGE difference! Thank you!! I know it isn't always easy, but it really does help. We started learning how to write the number 3 today. If you thought 2 was hard, just wait until you have to help with 3! We will continue to review all the letters and numbers learned so far.
Our unit this week is SHAPES. Most already know their shapes, but some are still questioning a few. We will learn triangle, square, rectangle, oval, circle, diamond and even talk about octagon and hexagon.

In the supply list I gave out at Open House, I asked for bandaides but have not received any yet. We have needed them on several occasions and have had to borrow some from other teachers. Instead of getting 10 boxes of bandaides, I am asking that the girls send bandaides and for the boys to send ziploc bags. Both of these will be greatly appreciated!!

I will send home the September lunch menu tomorrow for those who are interested in ordering. The kids are doing great with lunch.

Remember, when you go over the papers in their Friday folder, make sure they are with you and you talk about each thing. Reinforcement from the both of us is better than just from me.

Also, to the parents I emailed about missing forms, PLEASE make sure those are turned in ASAP!!

This Friday is a home football game! Wear your red, white and blue!! If you have not purchased tattoos you may do so Thursday. Tattoos have to be applied at home!! I will not put them on at school. We will have a pep rally that day. If you want to take your child, please go to the main office and Mrs. Trecy will call for your child to meet you at the office. This eliminates chaos and confusion for those who are not attending.

Have a great week!
Friday, August 29, 2014
Don't forget that Monday is a holiday!! NO SCHOOL!! I just sent out an email with some important dates, please let me know if you don't recieve it!! Have a great weekend!!

Colten's birthday

Colten's mom will be bringing cheese pizza and cupcakes for lunch this Wednesday, August 27 for Colten's Birthday! You only need a drink for lunch, unless your child doesn't eat pizza, then you need to still pack a lunch.

August 25 - August 29

This week we will learn the letter U, u as in umbrella. We will learn to write it and learn its sound. Please practice at home!! We had a hard time with this letter today. We will continue working on writing it all week. We will also be learning how to write the number 2. Number 2 is tricky and will definitely need extra practice at home.
Our unit is COLORS! The children already know their colors, so we will be focusing on COLOR WORDS. This is an important thing we learn in K4! PLEASE make flashcards at home and go ahead and begin playing fun games and practicing every night. Just driving down the road and asking to find a certain color will help! They will learn fun rhymes with each color, so be sure to ask them about each one every night. On Thursday, we will have a COLOR PARTY! I will send details soon via email!

Spirit Day and Tattoo Info

SPIRIT DAY @ PLAS-GO PATRIOTS!!!!

Our first home game is this Friday, August 22 at 7:00. That means SPIRIT DAY at school. Please dress your child in red, white & blue, cheerleader uniform, or football jersey! Pep Rallies are held on home game Fridays. There is a football schedule on the website. K4 DOES NOT attend the pep rallies. The gym is VERY hot & SUPER loud!!! It is overwhelming for the little ones! You may come and take your child if you would like for them to attend. Please go by the office around 1:50 and Mrs. Trecy will call for your child on the intercom. This will avoid any disruption to the classroom.

The cheerleaders sell spirit badges for $1.00 and tattoos for $1.00. I do NOT recommend the badges for K4 because they do not stick well & fall off during the day and end up in the garbage can. But you are welcome to try it out!! The kiddos really like the tattoos so that is what I recommend. We have 6 home games and the cheerleader’s only sell these things for home games. Please send $6.00 TOMORROW (August 21) if you would like tattoos. We will buy them tomorrow for the whole season. Our kiddos are too little to buy and apply the tattoos on their own. Please do not send big brother/sister to our room on Friday’s to apply. It’s not fair to the other children. Thanks for advance for your cooperation.
One more thing, please send your money in a labeled envelope or baggie. This is how I will send your child’s tattoos home. Please indicate HOW MANY of each you want. I will stick them in the front part of the book bag, so please check there.

You do NOT have to buy ANY tattoos at all. Totally up to you!

This week:

We are having a GREAT week! We have begun our curriculum!! We are starting with our vowels and will begin with I, i as in "inchworm" and "iguana". Each letter has a picture with it that helps us remember the sound it makes. We will learn the letter's sound and the correct way to write it. Please refer to the manuscript guide I gave you at Open House. This sheet will help you when practicing at home. Along with learning a new letter each week, we will learn a number. We will learn how to write it and to recognize it. We started with number 1 this week. Please begin making flashcards with letters and numbers on them so you can practice at home. Practice makes perfect!!
We are also working on writing our names. Some are still having some trouble, but we are working on it!! Please practice this at home! I have lots of handwriting paper if you would like me to send some home to practice on. We are learning about each line on the handwriting paper and where the letters should be on them, so this takes a while for some to get.
Our unit this week is "All About Me". Please send the pictures I asked for on Friday if you haven't already. We will begin sharing these with the class and make a cute project with them. We are also making a cute booklet!

Thank you to those who wore PINK yesterday. We had someone from the newspaper come take our picture, so be on the lookout. Please pray for Mrs. Jo's family! Mrs. Baggett asked if everyone wanted to, please send $1 in her memory. We will pool the money together and make a donation from PLAS to the First Baptist Church Preschool, which was her wish.

Please send in ALL the forms that were given to you at Open House and the ones that were in the Student Handbook, including the one that had to be notarized. I still have some that have not turned them all in.

I have only had 3 parents to sign up for the group text. Please do this if you can. It is a great way for me to send quick reminders throughout the school year!
